Dear Solano Club Members, Dr. Klink is thrilled to introduce the newly FDA approved the Obalon system for weight loss. Obalon is not surgery, it is series of three balloons that are swallowed 3 weeks apart and inflated in the stomach, giving a sense of fullness. The balloons are then removed in the office after 6 months. When paired with nutritional counseling that is included with the program at no extra cost and moderate exercise, patients are seeing weight loss of between 15-60 pounds and more. This is twice as much weight loss and diet and exercise alone and the vast majority of participants have kept the weight off after the balloons are removed. This program is not covered by insurance and patients who qualify have a Body Mass Index between 30 and 40 and have not had previous bariatric surgery.
